Alejandro Does it Again
03.30.11

When I went to fish in Tierra Del Fuego a few years ago I was lucky enough to fish with a great groups of guides.  Most notably Alejandro Bianchetti.    Now at the time it was clear to me the he had the knack for the big fish.  So we hired him to guide with us in Mongolia.  So what happened?  Of course in his second week of guiding one of his anglers caught a 60-inch Taimen.  No small feet considering there have only been two landed that big in 15 years of operation.

Well to make a long story short he did it again.  But this time in his home water of the Rio Grande.    Let me share what he wrote us in the email:

Hey guys,

Check out this pictures!  Last Friday, we had a couple of free hours and we went fishing before the warm up session with Ale and Agustin. And i caught this monster seatrout , 33,5 pounds (15,2 kilos) !!!!   my biggest fish ever and Villa Maria´s record ever!   the fish was 1,03 mts long by 62 girth, very very fresh female hard as a stone!
Just wanted to share this special moment with you guys!
All the best, keep in touch.
Ale

Congratulations Ale!!! And we look forward to the next installment.

Tibor Taimen
03.24.11

Ok Charlie you can get over yourself.  Of course your are going to be highlighted in the Quarterly of the worlds top fly reel manufacturer when you hang out with fly-fishings most successful photographer.    Only Barry Beck can keep you from looking like the lardo that you are…..what’s up with the mustache anyway.  I actually feel bad for the Taimen having to pose with you.  Nice fish though.

In The Bahamas
03.20.11

Just back from an amazing trip to Mangrove Cay Club.  Best bonefishing trip I have been on!  Big fish and lots of them, great drinks and food, and very nice accommodations!  My toughest decision of the week was to pack Kalik or Sands beers everyday in my lunch cooler.

The flats are endless in the middle bite of Andros.  It is tough to imagine and flat so big that we actually had one guide pole the same flat all day, and they were into fish the whole time.

My favorite moment of the trip was when I was dropped off on a long wadeable flat by the lodge.  I saw a school of 10 massive bonefish rooting their way right to me.  I placed a perfect 20 ft cast when they were 45 feet away.  I was quickly in the dilemma of recasting or hoping they headed in my direction.  Luckily they headed right for me, and followed my fly to within 10 feet of me before one of the big guys decided to eat.  An 8-9 lb bonefish was on, and finally landed 10 minutes later.

Or was it when I caught 4 barracuda on poppers in a 45 minute time period, or maybe when the big lemon sharks would come up and eat my popper, or maybe just sitting on the deck after great day of fishing enjoying my 4th rum and coke in the last hour, or….

Anyway tough to be back in the office, but I am already planning my next trip.  Anyone want to join me next March?

The Beartooth Boys Meet Baja
03.18.11

Last week the Beartooth Boys got back from their adventure in Cabo.  Everybody made it home safe and they both seemed to look allright.   It is always good when the only injuries are to sore lipped fish.    Congratulations to the Baja Anglers Guide Service that kept them safe and into tons of fish action.  Hey Baja guys ever guide a guy in flannel before?

Thanks Josh and Doug we look forward to your next installment.  Hey Josh maybe next time let your dad get in some pictures.  Check out what Josh and Doug are up to. www.beartoothbuilders.com
