2010 Grasshopper Infestation

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has just reported that this summer is in for a severe grasshopper infestation.  Charles Brown of the USDA stated that based on recent federal surveys many western states, including Montana, may see the most severe hopper outbreaks in the last 30 years. can you send me a picture of the two hopper patterns.

We are making our first trip to the Yellowstone River July 2-10th. Do you think we will be just a tad early for the hopper patterns? We are doing a multi day float starting at Carbella.

Stephanie, you will be a bit early for hopper fishing but you should be able to find some decent fishing in our area at that time. You can keep updated on current fishing reports at YellowstoneRiverReport.com or stop by our fly shop (Sweetwater Fly Shop) once you get here. Be sure to take a day to check out Livingston. We have a big 4th of July parade as well as a Rodeo (July 2-4) at the fairgrounds. It’s a fun week to say the least.

I have already put stopping at Sweetwater Fly Shop on our agenda! I am counting down the days.
